The hidden mechanism of mass media propagation and persuasive influence (PsyOps)
How does the propagation of propaganda work?
In a previous article, I described how vocabulary and emotional perception are distorted through entertainment narratives, which create persuasive message advocates. These loyal advocates propagate persuasive messages.
This is an individualized perspective, which in physics is referred to as a particle or point model. To look at the big picture — however — we need to examine how the particle model operates on scale, which requires the use of a wave model.
Waves are the backbone of modern telecommunication systems.
They’re relatively simple to understand.
A wave is an oscillating disturbance that has a periodic cycle with a frequency.
Waves have amplitude, which determines the strength or power of the wave, and may be linearly composed by one or more constitution waves through superposition.
Waves in a closed system tend towards synchronization of the most powerful wave. After several feedback cycles of constructive and destructive interference, waves oscillate in sync over a common phase angle where resultant energy is dissipated into an energy sink, e.g., heat from friction.
Wave synchronization, or resonance, is the principle of tuning forks.
Electromagnetic radio waves are used for most modern telecommunications. An electromagnetic wave is a transverse polarized light wave composed of an electric and orthogonal magnetic field that oscillate at the same frequency in phase, as shown in Figure 1.
Broadcast waves are constructed through a linear composition of two waves:
A carrier signal is a transport frequency range that has a second modulated signal, at a higher frequency, superimposed as information. The modulated signal may contain audio, video or digital information. Information is superimposed on the carrier with one of many composition methods, which are categorized into digital and analog modulation methods.
Analog modulation is most commonly known as AM and FM in radio broadcasting, as shown in Figure 2.
A device that encodes, or modulates, a transmitted signal is called an encoder or modulator. Whereas a device that decodes, or demodulates, a received signal is called a decoder or demodulator. A device that does both is called a modem (from modulator–demodulator), which has a transmitter and receiver to encode and decode information.
Traditional modulation was limited to carrier signal channels (frequency band), which restricted the size of antennae sending and receiving signals. However, using geometric physical correspondence, new compact antennae have been designed that are frequency independent.
These transitive geometric — or fractal — antennae are found in modern cellphones.
The Hermetic Principle of Correspondence states all levels of reality have harmonious correspondence with each other. All reality is energy and is thus a harmonious waveform. For example, correspondence is used in statistical mechanics to describe macroscopic heat, i.e., lower order kinetic energy corresponds with higher order heat.
(See Figure 3 for the musical correspondence on a 1 dimensional string).
Messages can be transitively modulated through several symbolic domains and decoded by a receiver through transitive correspondence. This is similar to the concept of notes in higher and lower octaves. Any message can be directly — or indirectly — encoded in language, audio, visuals, etc. provided the medium supports sufficient expressability and has appropriate levels of correspondence.
(Mathematically speaking, this is classified as a functor under category theory.)
Symbolic language can act as a carrier to encode emotion.
Linguistic emotional correspondence is how individuals are emotionally manipulated through specific words. Language and other symbolic medium act as a carrier field for emotional triggers that induce action. Such methodology acts as a remote control of a modem (i.e., human mind) that has been sufficiently synchronized to a carrier band. A synchronization method was described in my previous article by the persuasion messaging funnel, where vocabulary is emotionally polarized through narrative and cyclic conditioning.
Transitive correspondence is also known as telegraphing, which has has a long history in communication, entertainment and sports.
This telecommunications model has a few takeaways for persuasive messaging:
Messages can be encoded through a large variety of form and medium.
Increased variety of form increases perceived correspondence, which increases signal amplitude.
With sufficient amplitude, message continuity induces synchronization after enough cycles.
This mechanism is hidden in plain sight.
It’s commonly expressed through rhetorical devices like alteration, repetition, similarity and subconscious subliminal stimuli through mechanisms like synesthesia and ideasthesia. All fiction, art and music contain one or more encoded messages, which are received and decoded by human minds. This is the fundamental purpose of entertainment, which holds an audience’s attention to condition acceptance of a persuasive message.
Stories are more real than you think.
Destructive messaging systems
This telecommunications model offers an umbrella for similar studies:
While memetic derives itself from the word genetic, the concept of meme as a unit cultural transmission is similar to that of a modulated wave unit. Likewise, mimetics is the synchronization effect of two waves that result in destructive interference over several cycles presented as natural rivalry and scapegoating.
This brings us to most dangerous type of mental broadcast — the Inversionary Russian Doll. This type of message is carried on a wave whose modulated message encodes its complete opposite. It’s subsequently encoded further and further through correspondence, where its inner encodings remain hidden — like a Russian Doll.
Like a virus, it infects and destabilizes through destructive interference, which allows energy to be extracted and transferred from outer dolls to inner dolls.
This is the fundamental mechanism of all Ponzi Schemes, where each layer of the pyramid is privy to hidden — or occult — information, which is used to extract wealth from its lower layers. One could think of it as weaponized monadic irony.
The biggest issue with a destructive mass media broadcast system is hidden information and false information — secrets and lies. These systems require a blind unaware public who are bred and miseducated to be ignorant and perceive a false reality. Believing a lie creates internal conflict, which makes it easier to classically condition and convert individuals to create message advocates.
Constructive counter messaging systems
The solution is relatively simple, with a few caveats.
The Ponzi Inversionary Russian Doll system only works through lying, which requires a corresponding false belief to be accepted by a receiver. However, this system works well, because everyone lies — to themselves and others — and messages are easily accepted through correspondence.
The solution to destructive mass media propagation is constructive mass media propagation of truth. The Truth sets us free.
Jesus answered him, “I have spoken openly to the world. I have always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where all Jews come together. I have said nothing in secret.
— John 18:20
Most people can’t handle the truth and must be incrementally nudged back into it. The same way destructive false messages were spread, so too can constructive positive messages if enough advocates propagate it.
Knowledge of how these systems — and the mind — operate is imperative.
Counter messaging should embody the opposite of destructive narratives.
For example:
Self-sufficiency, family and community.
Courage and bravery.
Integrity, principles, freedom and human values.
Postpone self-gratification and immediate comfort.
These simple messages can be encoded in shared text messages (e.g., Twitter), memes, music, video and more elaborate forms of entertainment and art. Because of the principle of correspondence, the volume, diversity of form and synchronization of messages produce a high amplitude aggregate message, which may be able to disrupt destructive messaging for specific groups of people.
It is extremely difficult to censor transitive encoded messages.
This realm is unusual.
The material world is made of asymmetric waves, our minds are split between conscious and unconscious, we die for truth but live a lie — and we seem to exist on the knife’s edge of absolute light and absolute darkness.
This is a world of life and death. The choice of life and death is yours to make.
It’s the decision to live in the truth or to die for the lie.
You have the choice of freedom or slavery, which will shall you make yours?
