What is truth?

Everyone seems to know the answers to the world’s problems.

These answers naturally aggregate into belief systems and ideologies. “If we just listen to the experts then all suffering will end! We have to comply! We have to!”
Of course, this is a nasty and deceptive lie.

Logically, a correct answer implies a fully known problem.
We can see this feature in material implication from propositional logic.

answer :: P → Q, where P is the problem and Q is the solution.

Material implication: P → Q ⇔ ¬P ∨ Q

If P is true then Q is true — is equivalent to — Either P is false or Q is true.

The logical requirement for any solution is to accurately state if its problem is true.

Are human beings able to accurately assess truth?

What is truth?

Mathematical logic never attempts to venture into this territory, and simply declares truth as a premise. Reduction to the truth does vary — as in the case of Classical vs. Intuitionistic Logic — but truth itself is always taken as a given.

Truth is the most trivialized antecedent in human history — how does one prove it?

Some believe that “science discovers truth,” but that is also incorrect.

The scientific method puts two philosophical concepts to work:

1. Descartes demon.
   Assume there is a malevolent God capable of divine deception, then use a rigorous system to differentiate between absolute truth and perceived truth (i.e., modality).

2. Fixed point reference.
   Measure observations and values from a stable and well-defined fixed point of reference.

The result of the scientific method is a behaviourally consistent model of truth.

For example.

I created a potato mash and fermented it with my favourite yeast — Rebecca.

The fermentation is complete! Now I want to distill the solution and produce a high proof alcohol, but there is not just ethanol (drinkable alcohol) in my solution. There is also methanol (wood alcohol) and acetone (freakin’ paint thinner).

Methanol vaporizes at 64.7 °C and acetone at 56.08 °C.
(At 1 atm pressure).

To safely distill my ethanol at 78.24 °C, I first heat the solution to a lower set point and distill the harmful compounds — the heads, before increasing the temperature to distill the desired compounds — the hearts.

These temperatures are measurements produced under experimental conditions, which forms a vaporization MODEL for distillation. The Celsius scale is a measurement scheme using the freezing point of water as 0 °C and the boiling point of water as 100 °C.

My distillation is carried out using a tested MODEL with water as the point of reference.

So — again — what is truth?

Truth is the absolute unknowable nature of reality.

Everything we think, know and believe are models of truth, but not truth itself. Every purported “fact” is actually a claim of necessity or a deceptive possibility masquerading as assertion. The best we can do is create behaviourally consistent models of reality and recognize that our perception is inherently misleading.

This is the real spirit behind science and the enlightenment.

The truth is our narrow path to the divine. Without behavioural consistency, there could be no life or physical function. It is not our purpose to dictate truth, but rather to follow its brilliance within our limited capacity and unveil occulted deception.

Those who claim to know the truth are claiming to know God.

And that brings us back to the answers to the world’s problems: A solution is invalid if its problem is not true.

• How well studied and modelled is the problem for these ideological answers?

• Is its model subject to bias, linguistic misrepresentation or emotive conjecture?

• What are the risks with the solution if the problem is invalid?

Be very suspicious of popular solutions to perceived problems.

Mass concurrence is not correctness.

Most belief systems personify truth.

The truth is beyond symbols, logic and story. All are attempts to point to it, like flowers reaching for the sun. From this perspective, our material world is just information and syntax. It should be no surprise that materialists struggle to find meaning, because by definition there is no meaning within a flat syntax.

Be mindful of dialectical materialism, which has poisoned our academic systems. This asserts that reality is defined by the senses and can be subjugated by the will.

• This envisions Man as a material god.

• Truth is replaced by whatever ‘feels right.’

• All is subjugated before the will.

Dialectical materialism is the poison fed to the masses that the Ego is God.
We have no right to decide what is good, what is evil or what is truth.

But you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.

Atheist literally means “without God” or “without religion.” In the context of this article, it means “without truth.” Is it not interesting we live in an age where society is without truth?

The simplest solution is to become the embodiment of The Truth In Man.
(I believe there are instructions on how to do that somewhere…)

In an empire of lies, the enemies of the state spread the truth.
We may not be able to know the truth, but we can expose lies and let truth pass its judgment.

Become a supporter of truth and be supported by the provider of life itself.

This is not a trivial cliché. Get your ASS outside and plant seeds in the ground. You were given two hands and should curse that you were not given three. Grow food NOW. You have access to an overwhelming pool of information and should use every opportunity to better yourself and those around you. (Get Great Depression Ready!)

Do not waste this opportunity by toiling in your head — your model of reality.

Those who hide from the truth should expect to be burned by it.
