I’m afraid our children and grandchildren will be paying most of the bill. As you proceed to peel back the onion’s layers, you make your case that none of us can be confident that we have a lock on the truth. I suspect that one day the truths of the world will be made known to us all. For good and evil.
You're probably right. The present is a party, but the future looks like a funeral. You can only hold a beach ball under water for so long until it smashes you in the face. But that's just life, and ya gotta keep walking forward and put 'em 'taters in the ground.
Personally, I believe in free speech at all costs. It would be fantastic if there were sources that were trustworthy and tried and true. Sadly, in today’s world it takes a lot of time and effort to find truths. Especially as AI rears its ugly head.
That's the heart of it right there. Sources that are trustworthy, tried and true don't really exist, because if the context or interpretation shifts, just a little, then it's a false image of reality. What we know, think and believe is closer to a picture of a mountain than the actual mountain itself, and with AI becoming more convincing, a lot of people are going to be conned into believing even more ridiculous things.
Today I ran into one and I asked him to name names since he wanted to hunt them down. He couldn’t or didn’t, but claimed they were all down in Orange County,California. 🙈😂
One of the most beautiful phrases in the English language is "I don't know."
An honest admission that not everything is certain and absolute is like a sweet song, which I would expect to hear when an absurd idea is confronted with either a blatant contradiction or an inability to reasonably elaborate beyond generalization.
But instead of that beautiful phrase, it's ugliness, name calling and doubling down on absurdity. I will gladly spin on a dime if I'm wrong, because I want to discover the truth, but so many of these people think they already have it.
Yeah, gotta plant 'em 'taters and work on the dissident library, but you're right, unfortunately the most constructive solution is, ironically, creative destruction. It'll be quite the show...
